My Students

Our high school is located in Long Beach, CA. It is a large school of about 4,000 students. Even though the school is large, there are many programs that engage the students. We have a dedicated staff that wants to ensure every student success. I have mostly 9th graders.

My students are active learners and enjoy investigating biology.

They prefer hands-on labs and activities, and they work well in groups. My classes are split evenly between male and female students.

My Project

Right now my students can not see my projection screen. There is too much light in the room and the screen is too small. With the 120" projector screen I can make the image much larger so that every student can see the screen. For example, students will be able to see the subtitles on a science documentary about cells.

A 3D printer will bring my lessons to the next level.

The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) requires hands on problems solving. Students will be able to design and create objects that can then be tested in class. With this process, students will be able to actively see how the science and engineering design process works. For example students will be able to print large scale models of proteins for presentation. When they do this they will be able to represent various portions of its structure in different colors.
