Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are between the ages of four and five. They are just starting their school experience and they all have a great love of learning.
This age group requires visual props, small group instruction, creative play, manipulatives and auditory processing opportinities.
We are a Title I School and PHBAO (Predominately Hispanic, Black, or other.) Many of these students come to school without the basic foundation needed to succeed, not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well.
Every student learns through different modalities and it is important to provide a rich environment that is a component of the curriculum.
My Project
Please help me give my students the technology they deserve to access online learning. We are in need of a new laptop in our classroom. The current laptop we are using is over 10 years old, it cannot be updated and the battery no longer charges.
This new laptop will allow me to access the internet as a teaching tool during whole group lessons using the LCD projector.
I will be able to teach lessons related to the skills we are learning in class as well as access information about our science, math and reading standards. We will be able to access educational sites like GoNoodle, National Geographic Kids and Curious World.
Teaching science at this young age without technology can be challenging. This laptop in conjunction with the LCD projector will allow me to show the life cycle of animals, how plants grow and the difference between solids, liquids and gases.
