My students are both mathematicians and artists that range from 7th through 12th grade in a variety of courses: Algebra 1A, 8th-grade art cycle, year-round 9-12th grade art, and a remediation/enrichment period for mathematics that changes from 7th-9th grade.
My students love to create and have a passion for learning.
Through math and art, my students are learning there are several paths to take when approaching problems and that all problems can have more than one solution.
My Project
My Algebra students are going to be learning about linear functions all year. I would like to make the connection between linear functions and financial literacy. Financial Literacy should be an integral part of a Mathematics class especially Algebra 1.
I want my students to explore linear functions with regards to projecting incomes of careers overtime and with the help of this iPad my students can conduct research on different careers of interest and use DESMOS app to create colorful graphs that can be printed out for all to see the financial projection of different careers.
