Projecting a Brighter Future - Technology and Teaching
My students need visual as well as auditory aids to help them learn. Having a projector will help the students focus as well as help promote college and career readiness.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are engaged by technology and video games. Having a projector in which I can teach using a power point lesson or show a video clip of an experiment will provide my students with a whole new learning experience. My students come from a low income area and have very limited exposure.
My class is Hispanic and most of my students are English learners.
I have one newcomer student and one student with an absence of formal learning. The neighborhood is high crime and low income. The school has very high expectations of the students and I am worried for their future because they have little support from their parents. Their parents work long hours and have limited English proficiency.
My Project
Exposing my students to new experiences through technology would mean the world to them and make such a difference in their lives. I can read them bilingual books that I have on power point format and we can watch videos on Brain Pop to build knowledge in Science and Social Studies.
With technology, I can build background knowledge and build connections and promote a Love for Learning that will last a lifetime!
This technology can also serve as a motivation for the students by having them create their own videos and news reports. The possibilities are endless!!!
