This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

As a teacher in a low income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with severe challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges I work to keep my students focused on what is important - their education. My students love to read and enjoy the positive attention they receive daily. Although I cannot provide and protect them at home I make sure that every day they walk into my classroom I provide for them and make sure they feel safe. I hope to provide them with the best academic experience possible.

My Project

There are so many benefits of using technology in the classroom. It increases student engagement, improves student retention, and benefits a range of learning styles. However, my low-income school does not currently have the resources or funding to provide the needed technology in every classroom.

With this projector, students will be able to access technology and learn in a new way.

There have been many times where I thought the use of a projector would increase the effectiveness of my instruction. I have come across many interactive websites that would really help the students engage in concepts. I have also wished that I could show my students educational videos that support scientific concepts such as life cycles of animals and various animal habitats. It is essential to use visuals supports to increase understanding of many concepts.
