My Students

My students are some of the most dedicated, talented, and underestimated kids in St. Paul. I have the most magnificent 10th and 12th graders and feel lucky to work with them every day. Even though they face obstacles greater than most of us can imagine, they bring themselves to school, put on a smile, and actively learn.

These are the students who have dreams bigger than the world, and they know exactly what they need to do to reach them.

My students are committed to pushing themselves to reach their goals, and they often find themselves encouraging others to do the same.

When you start at the bottom the only way to go is up, and I have no doubt each one of my students will be successful in all of their endeavors.

My Project

My students need several school supply items including: poster and construction paper, markers, colored pencils, highlighters, glue and fancy scissors. In my class we will use these materials as we actively engage with the texts we are reading, in many different ways including: 1. highlighting, annotating and note-taking 2. asking questions, making connections, and noticing wows using individual white boards 3. using sticky notes to make individual and group responses 4. jigsawing parts of stories and sharing out on large poster paper 5. creating mini-projects and later creating large research poster projects that we will present to the entire school.

Your donations for these much needed school supplies will make a dramatic difference in my students’ learning.

For one, it will relieve them of the stress the lack of money to purchase their own school supplies causes in their lives. These school supplies will give us the freedom to focus solely on student learning and engagement. Students are also very well aware of the kind of people who are involved in DonorsChoose and are very grateful for the support.
