Project Slab Roller

Help me give my students a slab roller so we can spend more time making ceramic projects and less physically able students can more easily be included.

My Project

Starting this year I have gotten the kiln needed to start doing clay with my middle school students. Using clay slabs is one of the basic ways of building with clay. However, rolling them out with dowels has not been so easy for many of my lower grade students and students who are less physically able. As such, we are spending more time rolling out clay with dowels than working with the actual ideas associated with our projects and it puts us on quite a time crunch. A slab roller would allow all my students, including those who are less physically able, to produce uniform clay slabs with ease which would allow everyone to feel included and spend more time on the core ideas that make their to projects personally relevant.
