My Students

My students are driven, brilliant and motivated. They have desires to explore their ever changing community in new and technologically advanced ways. They want to learn more about themselves and others through the new Health curriculum that was brought into their school district. These students work well in small enrichment groups where they are able to better represent themselves through project and group based learning. Students are working within a pilot curriculum for Health Education to learn more about themselves, each other and their community.

My students desire hands on projects over written work to show their knowledge and understanding of topics.

They have a profound interest in using technology and doing group projects. Today's classroom is simply not set up for these new learners. Topics include Health, Nutrition, Drugs and Alcohol, Emotional/Mental Health, Consumer Health as well as First Aid and CPR. Students will be working on growth and development as well as exploring the reproductive health of both males and females. This group of students would like to work in groups to create visuals to demonstrate their learning growth.

My Project

The materials in this project will be used during class time and outside of class to create displays, models and posters based on the knowledge and information the students learn in class. Our students do not all have access to materials to create vibrant posters. The scissors, markers, poster board, and construction paper will give them the chance to create pieces showing their advanced knowledge and help educate their peers once they are complete and displayed in the hallway outside of our classroom. Having additional coloring supplies will also make it easier for the students to work simultaneously without having to share in small groups of 2-3 students.
