Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fifth grade students are bright, creative, and curious. They are full of personality and potential. They want to know more... about everything! It's so exciting coming into the classroom each day and knowing that this may be the day for that one student that the lightbulb will come on and "it" will finally CLICK! Being able to be a part of that is priceless.
It is amazing to see what kids can do when we give them the tools to succeed.
My fifth graders are at such an important age where their personalities form and they learn important concepts that they will carry with them throughout their lives. As their teacher, I aim to equip them to set and reach high goals for success in the future.
My Project
I believe that readers are leaders. I'm hoping to get some new books for my classroom to read to my students and to have my students read themselves to help foster a more positive classroom environment. With all the testing and curriculum demands, school can become stressful for kids.
I hope that, by introducing my class to some inspiring literature, we can create a positive classroom culture in which my students will dream big, work hard, and believe they can do anything because of the success they experience in the classroom!
I have filled my virtual cart with books that I know will inspire kids to achieve high goals. I want to read many of these books aloud throughout the year, and have a station where kids can pick a book to read that might fit the challenge or struggle they may face on any day. I hope to fill my kids with resources they may take with them throughout their lives to help them persevere through struggles they may face inside and outside of the classroom.
