Project Phonics: Bringing Literacy Opportunities to Every Reader!
My students need kinesthetic materials (such as the Writing Tablets and Magic Sand) to receive an effective multi-sensory phonetic reading instruction to help them read at grade level!
I have a great group of students and I absolutely love teaching middle schoolers! I learn from my students just as much as they learn from me, every single day. My classroom is a community where students feel safe, grow together, and take risks. I also show them a love of reading, which is something they often hate and don't have much confidence in when they walk into my classroom for the first time. I show them that no matter what, if you don't give up, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
Reading is the foundation of the skills my students will need to be successful in all of their content classes (ELA, SS, SCI, MATH) but also in real life!
My students receive instruction using a multi-sensory, rules-based program to learn phonics skills that they can carry over into literature.
My Project
My students are reading below grade level. They receive a rules based instruction to learn how to read and spell words and carry these skills over when reading longer texts like chapter books or nonfiction articles. Reading is the foundation of all we do! Reading is not just going to help my students pass a class or a test, it's going to help them in the real world, no matter what they end up doing one day.
Your donation will help provide my students with writing tablets, sand for kinesthetic activities, bingo and dice games, along with workbook resources to use for opportunities for my students to access their phonics instruction in interactive ways through multi-modality instruction.
