My Project

We are a Title I funded school library. Many scholars are diverse, multiple language learners, and at-risk readers. They are eager to learn, excel, and connect the curriculum in the school library. I enjoy providing scholars a multitude of experiences to connect the curriculum and enhance their learning while promoting equitable access and allowing them to be creative and stimulate their curiosity.

In the quiet, calm of the library, students will hear their dreams come to fruition.

But to get to that space, children need to first feel like part of a team. They need to be connected as they implement their student service-learning project. As a Title I school, many adults in our low-economic neighborhood do not understand pet ownership and protocols for taking on a cat or dog. Our goal is to establish a community service project aimed at adults in our surrounding community that advocates for not abandoning animals. Students will teach that pets are sentient beings and ownership is an important responsibility. They will deliver presentations to the public library and local organizations so potential and current pet owners understand pet responsibilities. We are seeking stickers, a sharpener, ring light and bowls. The sharpener and stickers will be used to draft up their presentations, the ring light to record the PSAs, keyrings for giveaways at presentation when meeting to collaborate. The bowls will be used to organize leaders with presentation materials.

With your support, we can ignite a culture of compassion for pet advocacy that begins in the library and radiates throughout our school community and beyond. Thank you for your time, support, and consideration of public-school children and school libraries.
