My students are kind, hard working, positive children who experience challenges with their behavior each day. They want to learn and want to succeed, but their emotional health and other challenges make this difficult for them. My students come from low income households. They come in hungry and tired more often than not. Some are homeless, some live with their grandparents, and some are in small apartments with many people. School is their safe place; their stable place. My students overcome great obstacles every day. We work together each day to help them regulate their bodies in order to achieve.
My students will be using the Amazon Fire tablets and headphones for many different types of learning. The students in my program are working on skills such as self regulation, social thinking, managing impulses, sustaining attention, communicating effectively, and academics. Amazon Fire tablets will allow them to work on all of these skills. They will be able to track their self regulation, triggers and strategies using the Zones of Regulation. They will be able to listen to audiobooks so they can access the curriculum. They will be able to practice mindfulness. They will be able to access GoNoodle for movement breaks. They will be able to practice their math facts. They will be able to type written responses.
By donating to our project, you will be helping my students to improve in all aspects of their learning.
Each of my students works so hard every day to control their body. Access to Amazon Fire tablets would provide them with countless accommodations and strategies to help them be successful each day.
