These materials have helped all of the students feel more successful but most importantly they have helped students who feel different, because of learning disabilities, feel the same. \r\n\r\nEveryday, students on my special education caseload worry that they will be made fun of or looked at differently because they need different things than their classmates to be successful. I try to equate their use of special tools to eye glasses and these things are tools that support personal learning. While my message is always a positive one, the impacts of feeling different from your peers in 5th grade is real and no one can say anything to change that. Your support of my project, has every student in 5th grade wanting to use these tools. The use of a slant board or a keyboard is suddenly \"very cool\" and maybe for the first time, students with different tools are also feeling pretty cool!\r\n\r\nYour support means more than you may realize. With the resources you helped provide confidence, smiles and a more inclusive classroom setting where everyone feels more successful and part of a larger grade level community. \r\n\r\nFrom all of us here in Mrs. LeBrun's 5th grade, thank you for believing in the power of inclusion and investing in the success of all students.
