Project Compassion Snacks

Help me give my students snacks and sticker paper to create a compassion project for others in our community.

My Project

Compassion is defined as a skill that enables you to see the world through the eyes of another person in order to alleviate their suffering or help them.

My students are very aware of the food shortage in our area.

Our school has started a backpack program to help send food home for those in need. We also have donated food to area non-profit organizations.

They are able to see how others are impacted by the lack of food. With obtaining donations and using the sticker paper, my students have been able to create positive messages to place on the food items. Not only does this help the person in need of food, it also gives them a "warm fuzzy" feeling. We have received positive feedback and want to be able to make another donation. So we are seeking help to create another big box of donations. Our school budget provides for many things but this is something extra.

We are seeing that our students are becoming more mindful of others and their situations. They are gaining new perspectives and during the conversations you can hear the compassion and new viewpoints gained. They are starting to look more and more around the community to see who is in need. We hope to see this trend continue and will see this as a positive measurement of project success.
