Because of you, our classroom has received two gel electrophoresis chambers—something I have dreamed of having for years. In my 14 years of teaching, I have never had access to this equipment. Bringing this level of biotechnology into my classroom feels truly transformative.\r\n\r\nWhen my advanced biology students first saw the gel electrophoresis chambers, their reaction was a mix of curiosity and excitement. Many of them had only seen this technique in textbooks or online videos. To realize that they would actually perform gel electrophoresis themselves—to load samples, run the gels, and analyze DNA banding patterns—was empowering. It made the science feel real and relevant.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, biotechnology is no longer just a concept we discuss; it is a skill they can practice. These are considered foundational lab techniques for biology and pre-med programs, and now my students can enter college with hands-on experience and greater confidence. They are not just learning about science—they are doing science.\r\n\r\nNext, students will be applying this technique in investigations where they analyze simulated DNA samples and interpret results just like professionals in research and forensic labs. The pride they feel in mastering college-level skills in high school is incredible to witness.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has elevated the rigor and authenticity of our program in ways I could not have accomplished alone. Thank you for investing in my students' futures and helping bring biotechnology to life in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1757033659519,"projectUrl":"project/gel-electrophoresis/9596199/","projectTitle":"Gel Electrophoresis","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stokes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10177374_orig.jpg?crop=2283,2283,x0,y98&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758380062777","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10177374"},{"teacherId":9338858,"projectId":8863256,"letterContent":"All of my students in my community service learning class worked on making no-sew homeless blankets. It was like Christmas because of big box of fabric. Some were able to pick what color blanket they wanted to create and could combine colors if they wanted.\r\n\r\nMy students will be donating these blankets to the Salvation Army.
