Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our school is a very diverse population where about thirty percent of the student body is African American, Caucasian, and Hispanic. All students are bused to school. All the students are eligible for free lunch. I have been a science teacher for over twenty years. I came to our school to teach STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering Art, and Math), and finally, I teach beyond the school district curriculum.

My Project

During the pandemic, students will learn the fundamentals of architecture design. I reviewed some of the resources at the Teacher Pay Teachers website and have found some great resources in helping me teach these skills to my students.

With a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card, I will purchase project base activities that students can work both at home and at school.

Students will learn how to draw like an architect, be able to read a floor plan, develop a 3D drawing of their dream home(Sketch-up), create a budget and construct a scale model of their home with foam board. Students will work in teams.
