This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are an 80% free and reduced lunch school. We are white, Hispanic, and a mix of other cultures, and our students are off the charts for our state test scores in WA. Many have troubled home lives but school is their job and they take it seriously. We are proud of them and need continued support!

I am impressed at the drive our students possess, especially considering the personal challenges they encounter a daily basis.

My Project

The dry erase markers are the biggest tool we use inside our intermediate grades. They have personal whiteboards (which are also somewhat old) and dry erase markers out for the majority of the day especially during math instruction. The work done with the markers allow on-the-spot assessments of student learning to take place which give the teachers a better understanding of which students can meet standards. They are vital to our students' success! The dry erase markers also allows us to save on paper, also.

My project is important because it eliminates their worry regarding a pricey material used daily in our classrooms.

Though they are no iPads, these markers can be costly, especially considering the school is in a low socioeconomic area. They use them daily and frequently they dry up. I don't want them trading meals at home for markers at school. Your help is appreciated and pictures full of smiles will be traded in return!
