Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are inquisitive, eager to learn new things, and ready to make mistakes and learn from them.
I teach at a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Many of our students come to school behind with basic necessities barely met. My classroom is a place for them to excel, where their voice and ideas are heard, and they are able to ask questions in a safe place.
Our biggest challenge is getting our kids to work with their hands. Our students NEED to have the materials to tinker, build with a purpose, and be creative. I'm hoping to inspire my students to fail, trying again, and creatively make changes to be a problem solver!
My Project
Students will be able to use We Can Lego 2.0 software, build machines, program those machines, and test them out. They will use that knowledge to create their own machines to solve problems or make an idea better. These experiences will help make them take risks, become problem solvers, and learn to add to other's ideas by collaborating.
In that collaboration they will be able to support their ideas with evidence and reasons "why" things work.
These materials will create meaningful experiences while my students learn about computer science. I'm excited to inspire my students to do what ever they can dream of!
