This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have the privilege of teaching a 3-year Engineering course pathway with a focus on Aerospace. As a STEM teacher, I am constantly looking for ways to bring even more high-quality, skill-based opportunities into the classroom. Professional drafting skills are a consistent focus throughout all three of my courses and I would love to get some high-quality equipment in the hands of my students.

The "Blackwing" pencil is regarded by many designers, artists and engineering draftspersons to be one of the finest pencils available.

By putting high quality tools such as these in the hands of our STEM students, not only is the learning opportunity enhanced, what it is to work as a professional is impressed upon them as well. The impact of using the same tools that industry professionals use helps students see the value of the skills they are gaining and take their own learning to a higher level. I have personally witnessed this effect.

My students will utilize these writing and drawing pencils as I lead them through their technical drawing and drafting activities in class. They will serve to elevate student products when creating Isometric and Multiview representations of their designs throughout their engineering adventure.
