This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students have been born and raised in the digital era and are highly efficient at understanding tech. We live in the Bay Area where jobs in media are abundant yet many of our young people are not aware of the power they have as media creators. This project seeks to combine tools and resources every student has access to (cell phones and cherished belongings) with Media Industry Equipment (tripods and light boxes) to show students that they can create powerful art using their phones. We are focusing on Digital Literacy and Digital Citizenship and learning that phones are tools we can utilize for good just as much as evil.
