My Students

In our pre-school classroom, my students are excited to come to school each day because they can learn through play. This is a place where they can connect with their peers and learn from new experiences. Many of these students come from military homes. A high percentage of students in this school also come from low income families. Being in this classroom provides them a valuable sense of stability and connection.

My students are able play in a safe environment that reinforces positive social and emotional learning.

We are able to help students blossom academically, as well as emotionally. This classroom provides a place where students are able to count on a positive environment that consistently supports their emotional needs.

My Project

The past year has presented new challenges for everyone, especially young children who don't always have the words to express what they feel. There have been many struggles that have been challenging for adults to process, and many young children are having an even harder time understanding what has been going on.

This project will help my preschools recognize emotions, understand why they felt that way and help them practice what to do when they feel strong emotions.

Children need an outlet to practice what they are feeling so that they can process what is going on. The activity mirror would allow children to see what they look like while practicing how to handle strong emotions. Each item in this project provides students with a different way to recognize and understand different emotions.

This project allows students to practice tough emotions in a safe environment. The mental health of children is very important. I want my students to feel confident in understanding what they feel, why they feel it and what they can do about it.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
