My Students

Living on the North Shore of Minnesota, my kindergarten students are eager to explore the outdoors in any capacity. Our class is known as the Bear Cubs and is part of a small school that emphasizes a strong sense of community and a commitment to learning about the natural environment.

Even though it can get pretty cold in northern Minnesota, my students are always excited to explore what nature has to offer in each season.

We strive to be outside every day to nurture social-emotional development. My kindergartners really bring imaginative play to life! They frequently create elaborate animal worlds and show a special love of creative play in the snow.

My Project

Puzzles provide a great opportunity for students to work together to solve a problem. They can use trial and error and visual clues. Big floor puzzles will bring new excitement to the classroom and encourage collaboration.

Adding animal figures to our blocks or clay will help students connect creative play to academic learning.

They can create habitats or magical worlds, tell stories, or work on sharing materials.

Finally, the alphabet stamps and ten frames will help students practice math and literacy skills through by stamping out sight words and modeling numbers.
