Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is comprised of 24 wonderful second-grade students in the heart of the Silicon Valley in San Jose. The majority of my students are learning English as a second language and qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch, but this does not hold them back in any way. Students come to school daily with a drive to learn more academically, and I strive to do my best to give that to them. They deserve nothing but the most solid educational experience possible. Everyone at the school including teachers, principal, support staff, parents, and students, helps to make our school a wonderful place to be and learn. Help us make our educational experiences even more memorable.

My Project

In class, we have a super improver wall. The super improver wall is used for students to improve upon both their academics and their behavior. The wall has a leveling system. There are 10 levels. All students begin at the first "white" level. When I see a student improving in either a behavior or academic skill, I give them a gold star to add to their chart. Once they have 10 gold stars, they level up to the next level , the "green" level. When they move to the next level, I give them some sort of prize. The prize is different for each level. Students look forward to earning the prizes. So, in turn, because of this, they are motivated to earn the gold stars first. Please help us replenish our prizes in our classroom so my students have something positive to look forward to!
