My Project

I work with kindergarten-fifth grade students in Substantially Separate Emotionally Impaired classrooms. The students in these classrooms have emotional disabilities, impairments, and trauma that make it difficult for them to self-regulate. We utilize Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to promote school safety and good behavior. PBIS teaches students about behavior expectations and strategies to utilize for self-regulation throughout the school day.

By using positive behavioral strategies with our students, we use prizes as a positive reinforcement incentive, by earning points on a punch card to earn prizes for actively participating in therapeutic groups two times a week.

These prizes (keychains, water cups, pencils, playdough, sensory strips, and other items) will help our students meet behavioral expectations in groups and in their classrooms.

By donating to this project, you will not only help to improve and increase these students' engagement and behavior, but you will also give them the opportunity to stay regulated, focused and help their academic achievement.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
