Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This is my first year teaching 4th grade at this school and second year in the classroom. We focus on kindness, a strong work ethic and real life community examples into our classroom.
This is an energetic and large group of fourth graders, who strive to do their best even with the struggles they face daily.
The majority of my class is learning English as a second language and 100% receive free lunch due to their socioeconomic status. I am already so impressed with them and am looking forward to all our time together this year!
My Project
I have a very chatty and diverse class which is wonderful for collaborating and group work, although when it comes time for independent learning, quiet work time or deep focus for assessments we have a much harder time staying focused.
Privacy and personal space is important for many reasons, especially in a large classroom with many diverse learners.
Having a private space to think, learn and grow is just as important as collaboration and working together. These privacy shields will give students the space they need to take responsibility for their learning, really focus on the task in-front of them, as well as, give them a space that is theirs when needed. Sometimes we all just need a little privacy!
