This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever held a brayer in your hands and inked a printing plate? Fun, right? Well, I'd like to introduce my art students to the thrill of printmaking!

Our school is located in a depressed, high crime, high poverty area and our students are very needy.

My job as their art teacher is to introduce them to art, to beauty, and to the wonderful things they can create with their two hands. Knowing how to make beauty is an invaluable tool for these children.

My Project

I am asking for foam printing plates, ink, and printmaking paper so our students can create their own prints. They will be able to create the same image several times and learn what the printmaking process is all about. After this they'll know how newspapers are made!

This project will add diversity to their student art portfolios.

This is no run-of-the-mill crayon drawing (though I love those too) -- my students will be able to show off multiple prints!
