My Students

Students from Stuyvesant High School reside in all five boroughs in New York City, from all socio-economic classes and all racial and ethnic backgrounds. Despite all of these differences, the school's students focus on what unites them - a singular desire to learn. They want to go to the top institutions of higher learning, which they do with the support from their parents and teachers.

Stuyvesant High School is renown for its commitment to excellence, which has resulted in some amazing statistics.

99 percent of the school has achieved proficiency in math, compared with 52 percent statewide in New York State. This has been achieved despite 45 percent of the student body qualifying for free or reduced lunch and a student: teacher ratio of 22:1, which is significantly higher than the 13:1 ratio in New York State.

My Project

The ink purchased allows me to print my students' Historical Newspaper Projects in full-color and display them in Stuyvesant High School. Recently I purchased an Epson Workforce printer with the specific capability of printing 11 x 17 along with letter and legal size paper. The printer uses up lots of ink as I print out 24 Historical Newspaper Projects. Fulfilling the Printing Power! project will make it easier for me to print out the student newspapers. I want to print out the students' newspapers in full-color because the school is encouraging me to put the student work up for all to admire as the spring term begins in February.
