My students are part of a magnet school that provides a supportive and responsive environment that appropriately challenges each student’s abilities and creativity through a fast-paced, in-depth and complex curriculum while providing students guidance in identifying and developing their unique talents and abilities.
Many students enter our program without ever having experienced educational challenges that push the limits of their abilities - in our classrooms they not only learn how to be students, but they embrace perseverance and learn to love school!
All of my students are highly gifted readers and mathematicians, but the method and environment that they learn best is unique to each of them. In my classroom we encourage a variety of learning strategies, both individual and group work, flexible alternative seating, fidgets and doodling, and even a classroom therapy dog to ensure that each student's needs are met each day. Families who join our program often say that they didn't know how enjoyable education could be for a highly gifted learner until they found us.
My Project
My students are encouraged to reach beyond typical limits of their imaginations when working on schoolwork. Often in our classroom we find times when we'd like to better visualize our thinking and have a product in our hands to showcase.
3D and laser printing technology will give my students opportunities to present products from the depths of their imaginations with the world!
They will create an action figure to represent their own personal super powers, engrave personal goal badges, make mathematical tools to help them show a new way to solve a problem, recreate fossil creation, make a sundial, and so many more unexpected things!
