Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in our district face many obstacles to success. To address these obstacles, the administration and board of education have developed a "Student Success Team," comprised of school counselors and social workers.
The pandemic has caused students to become disengaged from school, and they need someone who will advocate and "go the extra mile" for them.
That is what our team does. We provide services to these students and their families by referring to community agencies, and regularly meeting with each elementary and high school's intervention team.
My Project
Our district level student success team is located in the basement of a century-old high school. At this time, we are using a printer that was left in the office by the former occupants. Unfortunately, the printer is fatally jammed and cannot be repaired. Our district does not support individual classroom printers, so we have to purchase our own printers and ink. We need a printer to be able to share information with the students in our school.
Having a printer in our room will allow our team to give our students access to opportunities in the community through signs and posters.
We will also be able to distribute behavior and attendance success plans to students and staff.
