The broom and swiffer provided the grip and control many of them needed, and students quickly learned how to maneuver a swiffer, recognize where to spray the cleaning solution, and follow a clear sequence of steps to clean up classroom spaces. We've been using the tools daily, and the difference shows—not just in cleaner spaces, but in student confidence and ownership of their work.\r\nOne moment that really captured this growth came when a pencil sharpener spill created a mess that required thorough sweeping and floor cleaning. Instead of becoming overwhelmed, a student independently gathered the tools and followed a multi-step process to complete the task—something that previously required heavy prompting. When the materials first arrived, students were genuinely excited to use them (especially the art supply/craft box), and that enthusiasm has carried into our routines. The added incentives, like stickers and craft materials, have also played a meaningful role. Students work toward completing a full week of their chore charts, and then earn time to create simple crafts, which they've enjoyed sharing with classmates or bringing home to their families. It's become a natural way to build both motivation and social connection.\r\nWe're incredibly grateful to all of our donors for making this possible, and I'd like to extend a special thank you to the Bezos Family Foundation for being part of that support. As a next step, we're expanding this work into a spring community clean-up project, where students will apply their skills in shared spaces like staff areas while using student-made, earth-friendly cleaning products in recognition of Earth Day.","fullyFundedDate":1769192006020,"projectUrl":"project/building-independence-one-chore-at-a-ti/10032441/","projectTitle":"Building Independence, One Chore at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shelly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10408435"},{"teacherId":9170155,"projectId":10048391,"letterContent":"How Technology Helps Students Learn\r\nTechnology in our classrooms transforms how students engage with content and collaborate with their peers. While many of our donors use computers and tablets at home for communication and entertainment, educational technology serves a more targeted purpose: it personalizes learning pathways so students can progress at their own pace, provides immediate feedback that helps them understand mistakes in real time, and creates interactive experiences that make abstract concepts concrete and memorable. For example, students studying ecosystems can run virtual simulations to see how population changes affect biodiversity, or language learners can practice pronunciation with instant audio feedback—experiences that simply aren't possible with traditional textbooks alone. Additionally, technology enables students to access a wealth of resources, collaborate with classmates on projects regardless of physical location, and develop the digital literacy skills they'll need for college and careers.\r\nWhat Excites Students Most About the New Product\r\nOur students are most energized by the interactive and creative possibilities the new technology opens up. They appreciate that it makes learning feel less like \"work\" and more like exploration—whether that's through gamified problem-solving, the ability to create and share their own digital projects, or seeing immediate visual results from their efforts. Many students have told us they feel more confident participating in class because the technology gives them multiple ways to demonstrate understanding beyond traditional tests. The novelty factor certainly plays a role, but what we're observing is that the real excitement comes from feeling more in control of their learning and seeing tangible progress in real time.\r\nStudents Who've Especially Connected with the Technology\r\nWe've noticed that the new technology has been particularly transformative for students who previously struggled to find their footing in traditional classroom settings. Students with different learning styles—visual learners who benefit from interactive graphics, kinesthetic learners who engage through hands-on digital activities, and students who process information at a different pace—have all shown increased confidence and participation. We've also seen shy or reserved students become more vocal contributors because the technology provides a less intimidating way to engage, such as typing responses before speaking aloud or collaborating asynchronously. Perhaps most meaningfully, students who had begun to disengage from school have reconnected, viewing these tools as evidence that their school is invested in modern, relevant learning.","fullyFundedDate":1776089014942,"projectUrl":"project/math-curriculum-for-diverse-students/10048391/","projectTitle":"Math Curriculum for Diverse Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stiebeling","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9170155_orig.jpg?crop=2116,2116,x514,y786&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1744546626023","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9170155"},{"teacherId":3760745,"projectId":10073638,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for contributing to this project, and helping to close the equity gap for our student-athletes at Bassick. Our favorite thing to use our material with was making Thanksgiving dinner in our class. We were blessed with a food donation. Thanks to our project being funded we were able to use our kitchen supplies to make a complete meal. My students enjoyed using all the different tools to cook.
