This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Almost all of my students live in poverty. They come to school with a smile every day when most people would give up. My students have a desire to do well and they want to do well in school. None of my students come into my class and say I don't want to learn today.
I am doing all that I can to help my students not become a statistic.
However; the current statistics show that African American, Hispanic, and low-income students enter fourth grade two years behind and by the time they reach 12th grade they are four years behind. Since all of my students are African American and most of them are low-income this gap my be even greater.
My Project
Technology is opening so many doors for my students. My student love to work on projects on our tables, and they are always looking for new information. Now we need a printer so that the students can turn our technology into print. With a printer, students will be able to create projects and then print their work to display. Students will also be able to print off research they can use to build their own knowledge, not just school knowledge. Who knows maybe my students will be the next to lead a movement, but to do that they need to have all the resources possible!
