Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My incredible students represent several different cultural backgrounds, and live on the Yakama Nation Reservation.
They are full of joy and wonder, and love to learn!
My classroom is a special education inclusionary one. This means that some of my students have special education needs and some do not, but they learn together in the same classroom. This is a wonderful way to learn, and a great environment in which to teach.
I teach in English and Spanish, as several of my students are from families in which Spanish is the primary language in the home. I have Native American, Hispanic, and Caucasian students who are from an area that is considered low-income (Title 1). Together we make a beautiful and fun place to learn!
My Project
Because of budget cuts it gets harder to print everything our students need each year. Our students need to be able to take items home that allow their family members to interact with them regarding what is being learned in the classroom. When parents and family members work together with the students on things like math sheets, the learning progresses more quickly and is better reinforced.
We need a printer in our classroom so students can make and work on projects with family members at home.
When the students are involved in creating the worksheets, they are more excited about completing them. We can also send home items we make with the printer that help the parents to understand what we are learning in class. With an in-class printer, the students will be able to work with their teacher to create fun projects that reinforce the lessons we are learning. The printer, toner, and card stock will allow us to supplement our lessons. In addition, tThe students will be able to print cards for special occasions on the card stock.
