This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Nothing is a more powerful than knowledge. I want to teach my students that bullying is wrong and unnecessary. I feel this is especially important for my third graders, since I want to develop a strong foundation of character skills.

I am privileged to teach 18 third grade students.

They are eager and excited to learn. My students attend a large public school and many come from low income households. All the students at the school receive free lunch and also qualify for free after-school programs. Many of my students are learning English as a second language. They don't have many opportunities to participate in academically enriching activities outside of my classroom.

My Project

I am requesting books on the topic of bullying to help the students hear age-appropriate stories that they can relate to and better understand what bullying is all about. The book "Bullying in Schools" and the other children's bullying books will serve as fantastic tools to help educate my students about how to treat each other. In addition, I am requesting an all-in-one printer that will allow me to scan and print the students' stories and illustrations to create student-generated class books about bullying. The students enjoy seeing their own work published and will be more excited to read these books that will be written and illustrated by themselves and their peers.

Please help my students reach the goal of a "bully-free zone" at school!

First we will read stories and then create our own to help create a bully free zone and develop strong character skills! We need to start standing up to bullies and it all begins with knowledge. This project will assist in teaching my students character skills that will last a lifetime through the use of books and an all-in-one printer.
