Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are an inner-city school where the majority of the population receives free lunch and there is a high poverty rate. These students face challenges every day in their community as well as in their academic lives. In our school, we have a satellite program where students with mild or moderate cognitive impairments learn in a high school setting. These students range in age from 14 to 21 years of age with a grade level of K to 3rd grade.
These special needs students not only require studies that will help them in basic math, reading, and writing but also need help with daily living skills.
They spend part of the day in school learning the required courses and the other part of the day in the field at local stores to help them be productive members of society.
These students are challenged academically and physically. We need to give them as many opportunities to succeed as possible. This is why I am asking for your help. The students will be grateful to anyone who helps them.
My Project
My students, who are special needs, will use this printer to create shirts and other items to celebrate different holidays and activities in our school. They can make school pride items to share with the other students. It will also help them to use their skills to complete a project that all will see.
This printer will help them create projects that require hands-on skills they will need when they leave us.
This process will help them find jobs and create a life outside of school. They can be proud seeing their creation come to life and be displayed for the whole school to see.
