My Students

Presently, our school is made up of about 581 students. I am a special education teacher. All my students have been diagnosed with a disability of some kind and have an individualized education plan – but I see them as beautiful and as smart as any other student. My job is to find a way to help them learn, be successful and thrive.

My students love school!

In addition, many of my students speak a language other than English. All of my students are considered low-income. Due to their low socioeconomic status, many learners already have gaps in education and high mobility rates – facing daily challenges and obstacles to overcome. Even though they have obstacles and hardships to face daily, my students are 100% dedicated. They always attend school with an eagerness to learn.

My Project

My students are wonderfully unique. They have a wide range of strengths and needs. Traditional curriculum materials do not always address the diverse needs of my students. They need creative and engaging activities to keep them motivated to work hard and make the progress I know they are capable of.
