Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our school is a safe haven, a place where kids can work toward a common goal. Our students need somewhere safe to be, a place off the tough, local streets. Kids learn commitment, teamwork, and pride, as well as academic skills.

I am an alternative/regular education teacher.

I work with students that have major behavioral issues, and with students who strive academically.

Our students come from broken, single-parent homes and come to us with many issues.

Our budget is non-existent. Our building is old and hasn't been updated much since it was originally built in the early 1900s. Sounds like a great place for modern learners, right?

My Project

Because of Covid and recent changes to the way students are learning and teachers are teaching, a year and a half of on and off schooling has put our students behind. By donating to this project, the students will have the opportunity to print the work out instead of working completely online. I am trying to give our students the opportunity to learn, grow academically, and adjust to the changing world outside. A student's education is the most valuable asset that our country and community have to rely on, and we as teachers have to meet these students where they are at and help them grow and become forever learners.
