Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have the pleasure of working with 9th grade students in a self contained special education classroom. My students are in this classroom setting because they have strong needs regarding emotional regulation and academics. My students are learning to count money, tell time, and most read at a 2nd grade level.

I am passionate about teaching life skills to my students so that they can one day live independently and have a job.

My students learn life skills embedded in their daily classwork. They earn money and divide it between their class checking and savings accounts, they clock in and clock out daily at school, and we practice cooking, cleaning, and job skills.

My Project

This project will help my students access more printed materials. My school, like many, has a printer that is kind of a mess. It is very far, lack of plan times make it hard to get to, and is often broken. Having a printer in my classroom will help my students access more materials. This will also be helpful because not all of my students have access to printers at home, so I can print things that their parents send and send them home with the students. This printer will greatly improve our classroom.
