Can you imagine life without the works of J.K. Rowling, F. Scott Fitzgerald, J.R.R. Tolkien, or Mark Twain?
My students are 10th graders in a low-income area of Mississippi, and many of my students lack the basic resources needed to bring notebooks to school or to access books.
They attend a public school in a town that's racially divided. Despite their challenging circumstances, they have a love for life and desperately want to learn. This past year, many of my students discovered the joy of reading for the first time and now struggle to put a book down.
My school currently does not have a copier or a printer. A copier would allow me to print materials for my students, such as classic short stories and excerpts from popular novels. I work with lots of struggling readers and need the ability to expose them to texts that will challenge and engage them.
Please donate to this project so that my students can have the resources so many others take for granted, such as access to quality literature.
I've seen the bright eyes of a girl gushing about her new favorite book she's reading, and I want all of my students to share that feeling.
