This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing, eleven- to thirteen-year-olds who spend their time in class pushing the limits of their brains. They are not predisposed to education coming first. Typically, they are the first to graduate high school in their families. They almost all qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and some of them are the family caregivers for the majority of the day, but they still come to school and give it their best.

But, the goal is that someday in the not-so-far-off future, they will go to college, and even though that may be six years from now, it's never too soon to start practicing and honing in on academic abilities.

My Project

This is the year of writing! My students have an ultimate goal to be published authors. We use our district distributed Chromebooks daily, but students find that they run out of charge easily. They need power-strips to plug their devices into since outlets are few and far between desks. In order to be published, students want to print out their masterpieces- so we really need an additional printer in order to make this happen! Anyone can be an author - you need need the mindset and the appropriate materials to do so!
