Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the pleasure of teaching a wonderful group of students. Not only are they diverse in their cultural background, but also in their educational needs. I teach four social studies classes and my students range from honors to on level, English language learners and special ed! We are a Title I school in Queens where breakfast and lunch are provided to all students. We have many students who commute from different parts of the city. They have diverse living situations, including some who live in shelters.
This year my students will be working on service learning projects that are student-led and driven by their will to make the communities that they live in a better place!
My Project
We will soon be working on service learning projects. My students will be getting involved in their communities. They will use the requested printer, toner, cardstock and paper to create flyers, and advertise their service learning projects. They will also need to be able to print their research, letters to representatives, and petitions.
With equal access to printing, even students without access to printers at home will be able to take their learning to the next level.
We want to ensure that our ELL, low income and Special Education students have the same access to printing as other students so that they too can be civically engaged.
