Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Be the change you want to see in the world," Mahatma Gandhi said, and my students apply this quote in my classroom and dream big every day.
My students are a delightful group of first grade dual language learners who attend a Title I school with more than 60% living in poverty.
They are creative and eager to learn and deserve every opportunity to shine. I am lucky to be blessed with such a remarkable crew!
My Project
My students have access to computers and love using them. We integrate this technology throughout our work day by researching online what we are learning; however, my students are currently unable to print their efforts. We would love to be able to print our work in color so that we can make our own class books. To stay engaged, it is essential to be able to see and share our endeavors. An added benefit is the promotion of a healthy work ethic and pride in one's accomplishments.
My students would love seeing their own work and their fellow students' creations come to life in print. This is only one example of what a printer could do for our class! Among other things, I would be able to enhance the learning environment of my dual language learners by printing vivid photos and games to assist in building language and vocabulary skills.
We are requesting a color printer and ink cartridges to strengthen our learning process.
At the end of a lesson, my students would be able to hold and enjoy a tangible item instead of only being able to view their work on a computer screen. This would encourage even the more reluctant students to put forth their best effort! This project would go a long way in encouraging and supporting my students in their quest for success!
