My Students

I am a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district where my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Many of them are being raised in single parent households and all receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth despite what external factors they may be up against.

Despite the many challenges they face, my students deserve engaging and quality learning experiences that will help them overcome at least the academic setbacks they may be up against.

My Project

In the world of teaching, "spiraling" is a common word used when planning for student mastery - this means that teachers "spiral" back to previously taught concepts and expose students to these again to ensure that the concepts remain fresh and well practiced.

For this reason, we need quality and durable center materials which are extremely important as they will be used all throughout the year and made to last!

We are requesting an HP Wireless color printer, card stock and laminating pouches which will allow for the printing of numerous literacy and math centers that my students will engage with each day. The bright colors from the ink instantly excite students for the learning they are about to participate in. The Card Stock paper and Scotch Laminating Pouches will allow for the centers to be handled by ALL students time and time again while ensuring the centers are long-lasting.
