My students need basic classroom supplies (crayons, paper, pencils, and glue) to use at home and in class daily after being displaced by Hurricane Maria.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I currently have 42 students in my kindergarten classes. There are 21 students in each class. My students have a love for technology, reading and math. They are very excited about learning and I want to make the class interactive. My students don't have access to much technology. Many of our students are low income students and they don't have digital devices at home. The students in my classroom are a diverse group of children who come from intricate family backgrounds. I teach at a low income school and in a classroom full of eager learners who are enthusiastic about coming to school every day!
My Project
My students need basic school supplies like pens, paper, crayons, and more to achieve in school and at home.
Many of our students lost their items after Hurricane Maria and had to be relocated to our school.
While most of the materials will stay in school, some will be given to the students to be used at home, whether to complete their homework or for an at-home activity.
There are times when parents cannot afford to provide basic supplies like the pencils, pens, journals, etc. But in this situation they are forced to start over due to Hurricane Maria.
These school supplies (crayons, paper, pencils, and glue) will provide my students the necessities to complete their work. The measure of a students imagination and creativity is limitless, but they are bound by the access to resources. I want my students to feel like things are normal again. We are constantly trying to make them feel comfortable even though it is hard to be in a new place in the middle of the school year.
