This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at an inner-city, neighborhood high school. My school serves around 1650 students. More than 50% of students are Black, Latinx, come from low-income households, and are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches.

We need HEPA air purifiers in the classroom.

They will help reduce the spread of the COVID-19 infections and keep my students and their families safe.

My Project

Currently, the school is in full session and it is humanly impossible to maintain social distancing. Students and staff are required to wear masks. My students understand the importance of wearing masks, eating/drinking outside the classroom, and washing hands. With 24 students in a classroom, social distancing is next to impossible, and there are several chances to spread the COVID-19 infection.

Research highlights that high-quality HEPA filters effectively remove SARS-COV-2 particles from the air.

Your kind donation of HEPA filters will keep 225+ students and staff members safe. The HEPA filters will act as an ultimate line of defense by filtering extremely small viral particles, mold, dust, and other airborne pathogens from the air.

Clean air will prevent the spread of COVID infections. Students will have a chance to focus on their education and stay safe. It could also help reduce the stress and anxiety levels in check while attending to the social and emotional needs of the students.
