Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are 3, 4, and 5-year-old Pre-K children. They are eager to explore and learn the world around them. They will be able to add to their exploration with the veterinarian, doctor, dentist, and builder kits. The international food collection will encourage them to try new things, and be accepting of cultures that are unfamiliar to them. The baby clothing and blankets will provide opportunities to care for others.

Most of my students are at risk of starting kindergarten without the vocabulary of their peers.

My classroom is made up of children living below the poverty line, homeless, living in shelters, or single mother households. Providing opportunities to pretend and learn with varied materials is a great way to grow their vocabulary, give them a chance to learn about different careers, and access to different types of food that they've never experienced.

Our job is to scaffold their learning bridging the gaps wherever we can, and providing as many opportunities and experiences while in our classrooms.
