My Project

In our developing makerspace, my students have been applying their crafting skills. Designing graphics for t-shirts and mugs has been a popular choice. Students can use the computer-aided cutting tool to cut their designs in vinyl to apply to the mugs and insulated cups they bring in. I know they would like to make t-shirts with iron on vinyl if we could easily press the designs on. We have tried using a regular iron and found it requires a lot of practice to master and sacrifices a lot of vinyl in the learning process.

My students could be entrepreneurs and makers if they had a Slendor heat press to transfer the vinyl onto t-shirts.

This will take their design skills to the next level when they can produce batches of t-shirts for extracurricular clubs and field trips. Eventually, a cottage industry could emerge from student work!
