Preserving Charts, Rubrics, Poems With a Great Laminator
My project needs a quality class-size laminator and laminating film for preserving charts, special class created projects, poems, rubrics, etc., which need to be used all year, year after year.
I teach kindergarten in Harlem in New York City. The classroom is filled with charts, rubrics, signs (for kids and visitors alike), songs, poems, class rules etc. But every year these beautiful labor-intensive creations have to be remade because they simply do not hold up from one year to the next.
The time taken to create charts and rubrics, etc. could be much better spent on instruction with the use of charts that were created in past years and yet are still sparkling examples of what we need to learn!
A laminator not only eliminates the need to redo things again and again, but it enables the children to preserve special projects, many of which decorate our room and are then sent home for their families to save and cherish for many years.
I would like each new class to come into the room in September and have: a head start on the expectations for the year, rules to live by in the class, signs and process charts that offer directions, etc.
A print rich environment is just the beginning of support for very young children on the road to literacy.
