My students are 11th and 12th graders who are hard workers! Two-thirds of them come from low-income households and are either first or second-generation immigrants.
I have several goals for this project; one is to be able to provide a more aesthetic environment for my students.
I want them to be able to thrive academically by not having the overhead glare of the fluorescent lights and not having their cell phones on them during my class. I want to be able to provide them with a safe place for their phones to go and also an incentive to put their phones away by putting them in a safe box with a charging unit during class. Another one of my goals is to create a warm and welcoming environment utilizing supplies such as light covers, colorful pens and markers, and a classroom clock to make such a stiff room seem more welcoming and enjoyable. My students are special because they are hard workers, multi-taskers, kind, and eager to learn!
