This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Every so often, our preschool program needs to restock the consumable supplies we use up during the school year. This is that time! When you look at our proposed list of items, it may seem somewhat random but it's not. First, there's the batteries and cause and effect sensory toys. We go through a lot of toys that break down with wear and tear, and we use up a lot of batteries, too.

These toys help them with their continued growth in their cognitive development, as well as their fine motor skills.

There's also the sensory materials, like the Mad Mattr. Our students really benefit from time with sensory input, and the Mad Mattr is perfect to help them with their sensory regulation, as well as continued development in fine motor skills. Then there's all the knee pads; the adults need them! We're on the floor with the kids all the time, and after a while, it can really take a toll on our bodies. The knee pads are real life-savers for the staff, and it helps us stay on the floor with our students and allows us to be at their level. Last, there's what I call the 'people' kit, which gives us a way to have the students make representations of themselves with a great art kit. They develop in the areas of fine motor skills, language development, and learning how to define themselves in the world. Plus, it's fun! All of it is.
