Help me give my students a Star Right Magnetic Letters with Tabletop Easel & White Board, along with upper and lower case magnetic letters for matchings, various pencils and pencil grips to promote good grasp and sorting activities.
Hello, I am an occupational therapist in St. Johns District Schools. I work with preschool students and my students are all exceptional! They have diagnoses that range from learning disabled to autism to cerebral palsy to Down's syndrome to intellectual delays. They learn through hands-on, experiential activities.
It benefits the students to have the occupational therapist, speech therapist and teacher work together so that they can receive the best learning experiences!
They love all of the manipulative activities that I can provide! My students are the greatest!
My Project
Too often preschool students are not taught how to properly hold a pencil or form letters. They also do not learn sorting skills. The items I have requested will allow my special needs preschool students to learn how to hold a pencil, with various different types of pencils and grips. They will also be able to complete fine motor manipulative tasks and learn the whole alphabet with fun and engaging activities, all while learning (though they won't know it is educational!). I do my treatment activities in conjunction with the ESE teachers and the speech therapist, so they get the greatest advantage of a unified approach.
I would like the pencil grips, special pencils, magnetic letters and sorting items to prepare my special preschool students for general education classes and for as much mainstreaming as possible by starting as early as possible.
Please consider supporting this worthwhile project, as it will mean so much to the kids, the teachers, the parents and the speech therapist!
